FAQs

IS homebirth SAFE?

Homebirth midwives are licensed and trained professionals that provide excellent care.

Statistic: “Planned homebirth mothers have a 5.2% cesarean rate, when the United States planned hospital birth is 32% for full-term pregnancy.”

Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) are trained in Neonatal Resuscitation. CPMs are also trained to manually and medically prevent and treat postpartum hemorrhage. We carry the same medications the hospital does to treat these emergencies.

WHAT IF complications DEVELOP?

Midwives are the experts in normal labor and birth. As soon as things begin to look abnormal, we are prepared and are trained and equipped for emergencies. We provide treatment while calling EMS (911) to have them provide an ambulance ride to the closest hospital in the event that any of our efforts are no longer effective.

WHAT IF I BECOME high-risk IN PREGNANCY?

Homebirth is only safe if you’re low-risk. If you begin to show signs of high-risk, a lab test will be performed and a transfer to a hospital will be necessary. You will then have a hospital birth and return to your midwife upon your release to enjoy your 6 to 8 week postpartum.
